Quergestrickte Maschen (Vikkel Braid) in Runden

Vikkel Braid in the Round

Cast-on 1 st using the Cable Cast-On Method, place on LH needle, *K1 tbl into the second st on LH needle, keeping the st on the needle, K1 tfl into the 1st st on LH needle - this st will become the horizontal braid st, let the two sts slip off LH needle, both stitches are now on RH needle, slip first st on RH needle back over to LH needle; rep from * to 2 sts before end, K1 tbl into the 2nd st on LH needle, keeping the st on the needle, K1 tfl into the 1st st on LH needle, remove off LH needle, both sts are now on RH needle.

The last st on RH needle needs to be cast off. To do this, cut your working yarn, slip the st off the RH needle, thread a darning needle onto the working yarn and insert the darning needle through the dropped stitch, from the back (do not pull too tight). Now go to the beginning of the Vikkel Braid and, working into the horizontal strands of the first braid stitch, insert the darning needle from behind through both horizontal strands. Go back to the last Vikkel Braid stitch (the one that the darning needle was first thread through) and insert the darning needle into this stitch again through the front. Pull snugly and the Vikkel Braid should now be joined with no jog. Rejoin yarn.
