Level of difficulty: easy

Tatto indulges you with its wonderfully soft and squishy texture. The slightly asymmetrical triangular shawl knitted in garter stitch was designed by Paulina Popiolek and is just made for snuggling up in it. With its multicoloured narrower and broader stripes, Tatto is an easy yet interesting knit. Get creative with the colours of our Lovely Merino Treat. We love the beautiful contrast of the vivid Garden Pond and Caramel. Isar Pebble complements the vibrant tones and adds calm to the play of colours.

Tatto is knitted in garter stitch with three colours. Beginning at the right tip, you increase along the top edge in a ratio of 3 stitches to 4 rows to obtain the triangular form. A removable stitch marker helps you to mark and keep track of the rows on which there are no increases. For the narrower stripes, you carry the different coloured yarn along the top edge, so there are fewer ends to finish. You then finish the shawl off with a neat 2-stitch I-cord edge.

The finished shawl is approx. 188 cm (74 in) wide and 82 cm (32.25 in) from top to bottom after blocking.

You will need 4 skeins of Lovely Merino Treat: 2 skeins (155 g) in colour A, 1 skein (95 gi) in colour B and 1 skein (80 g) in colour C. The indicated yarn quantities apply according to the gauge.

The garment in the images is knitted with the colours Garden Pond (A), Caramel (B) and Isar Pebble (C).

Needles: 5 mm (US 8) 100 cm (40 in) circular needle. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Knitting techniques used:

Tatto was designed for our 2021 collection, to which Rosy gave the theme of touch. This year, we have all become particularly aware of the importance of interpersonal closeness and touch. More and more, however, it is also becoming clear that we belong together worldwide and that what happens on the other side of the globe also touches us. The names of our patterns express this in different languages. The Italian word Tatto means sense of touch.
