Level of difficulty: easy
Minimalist designs with delicate details are Evgeniya Duplyi’s trademark. With Listopad, she has created an easy-to-knit rectangular shawl that can be worn as a wrap shawl around the shoulders as well as a scarf around the neck. The Melange colours Terra, Honey Pie and Pure of our Cheeky Merino Joy in big colour blocks evoke cozy autumn vibes. Evgeniya writes: “I know the word Listopad from the Russian language, where it means falling leaves. When the wind blows during the autumn time and it rains golden leaves from the trees, I always have this word in my head. During my research and the design process for this pattern, I discovered that the word Listopad is used in other Slavic languages as a name for different autumn months. The people from Croatia call October Listopad, and it means November in Polish. Even with all these different uses, Listopad always has the same meaning. It stands for those wonderful golden autumn days. With this design, I wanted to capture this beautiful fall mood and bring it to the knitting needles.”
Listopad has a rectangular shape and is knitted flat from one end to the other. Two easy-to-knit stitch patterns alternate in this design – Stockinette Stitch and Seed Stitch. You receive a nice edging with I-Cord technique which is worked over the edge stitches, and shown in the pattern with pictures for support. The colour blocks in three different tones offer you lots of opportunities to get creative.
The finished shawl is approx. 194 cm (76 in) wide and 47 cm (18.5 in) from top to bottom after blocking.
You will need 3 skeins of Cheeky Merino Joy, 1 skein (100 g) for each colour. The indicated yarn quantities apply according to the gauge.
The garment in the images is knitted with the colours Melange Terra, Melange Honey Pie and Melange Pure.
