Just let go! Malie by designer Irina Anikeeva brings airy lightness to your looks. The very loose-fitting, sleeveless top with dropped shoulders combines casual style with fine details. Enjoy the balance between stripes in an airy Eyelet pattern and delicate texture. The small rolled hems at the neck and armhole openings add a playful finish. The noble sheen of our Cheeky Merino Joy, here in the colour Taupe, underlines the beauty of the clean lines. Malie is wonderfully versatile – whether elegant with blouses, summery dresses or casual with jeans.

Malie is knitted seamlessly from the bottom up, starting with a folded tubular cast-on for a nice round edge. After knitting the hem, the top’s asymmetrical shape is achieved with German short rows, making it longer and slightly rounded at the back. For the body, you work alternating sections of a texture and eyelet pattern up to the underarm. The front and back are knitted separately, and the shoulders are shaped with short rows before joining them with a three-needle bind–off. Finally, stitches around the neck and armholes are picked up and knitted in stockinette stitch for the rolled hem.

The pattern is designed with 30 - 35 cm (12 - 14 in) positive ease at bust circumference.

The garment in the images is knitted with the colour Taupe.

Needles:

  • 3.25 mm (US 3) 40 cm (16 in) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round
  • 3.25 mm (US 3) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle
  • 3.5 mm (US 4) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle
  • 3.25 mm (US 3) double-pointed needles

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Malie is a design from our 2023 collection. In these turbulent times, there is much cause for reflection. And especially the desire for serenity and calm, for light-heartedness and peace. We have therefore named the designs in this collection after this longing, in different languages. Malie expresses a state of calm and tranquillity in Hawaiian, like the sea after a storm.
