Pattern Shawl Woodland Step

Like the gnarled network of branches stretching towards the sky, the stitches of Woodland Step form a fascinating design that captivates you and allows you to breathe deeply at the same time. The small asymmetrical shawl by designer Bérangère Cailliau gently warms you with its compact yet supple structure. Explore new paths as you knit the two-colour mosaic pattern, while the elastic volume of the garter stitch stripes carries you along like the forest floor gently cushioning your steps. 

Woodland Step is a varied knitting pleasure for anyone who wants to try their hand at knitting two-colour geometric designs using simple mosaic patterns. The garter stitch stripes allow you to relax and enjoy yourself in between. You start the shawl at the right corner and knit rows that become longer and more slanted as you go along. To do this, you increase at the beginning of every second row and balance the shape in every eighth row by decreasing. 

The finished shawl is approx. 154 cm (60.5 in) wide and 50 cm (19.5 in) from top to bottom after blocking. 

You need 2 skeins of Lovely Merino Treat, 1 each in Colour A (91 g) and Colour B (91 g). The indicated gram quantities apply according to the gauge. The consumption for the swatch is included in the skein specifications. The piece in the images has been knitted with the colours Cream (A) and Wood (B). 

Needles:

• 4.5 mm (US 7) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
