Origin
Allow yourself to take a break, pause for a moment and find some peace with the Crossway Wrap. This elegant, feminine sleeve shawl gently wraps you in the soft warmth of our Cheeky Merino Joy. As you knit the delicate ripple slip stitch pattern, you can take a deep breath and let yourself be carried away by its steady rhythm. Carefully developed details such as the neatly finished edges and the thumb hole lend this exceptional design a harmonious finish.
You knit the Crossway Wrap from sleeve to sleeve, starting with a 1x1 Waste Yarn Tubular Cast-On, then working the first sleeve in the round in 1x1 ribbing with an integrated thumbhole detail. After completing the sleeve section, increases are made to achieve the body width. The main body is then knitted flat, back and forth in a ripple slip stitch pattern, maintaining an attractive finish along the sts of each edge by working the Distitch Closed Selvedge Edge technique by Assia Brill. Once the body section is complete, decreases are worked to transition back to working in the round for the second sleeve. Finally, you can add an optional, decorative afterthought gusset to provide extra support at the transition from the top of the sleeve to the body opening.
The finished wrap has a body height of 47 (55.5, 64.5) cm (18.75 (22.25, 25.75) in) and a total length of 230 (250, 270) cm (90.5 (98.5, 106.25) in) from cuff to cuff after blocking.
You need 4 (6, 7) skeins (385 (539, 682) g) of Cheeky Merino Joy.
The indicated yarn quantities apply according to the gauge.
The garment in the images is knitted with the colour Melange Ash Blue.
