Pattern Waymark Vest

With the Waymark Vest, you can elevate any outfit with a much-loved knit made with our soft Cheeky Merino Joy. Whether you’re going for a deliberately casual, playful, or even a business look, this versatile polo-neck top will be with you every step of the way. The wide hem sits gently against your body, creating a beautiful, feminine silhouette and allowing you to easily adjust the length of the top to suit your preferences. And with its deep V-neck, double-knit collar and front bands, and other subtle, well-thought-out details, the Waymark Vest becomes the crowning glory of your layered looks. 

You knit the Waymark Vest from the top down, learning and refining exciting techniques along the way. You start by working the right and left back shoulders separately, shaping them with Japanese short rows. The shoulders are then joined, and the upper back is knitted to the underarms. Stitches are picked up from the shoulders to work the left and right fronts, incorporating neckline and armhole shaping. The back and fronts are joined at the underarm, but before the body is fully joined and worked in the round down to the hem, the collar and front bands are added using the double-knitting. The wide 1x1 ribbed hem is embellished with an interesting cable pattern detail along the bottom edge. Finally, you knit the armhole trims in a 1x1 rib pattern.

The indicated gram quantities apply according to the gauge. The consumption for the swatch is included in the skein specifications. 

The pattern is designed with 10 - 12 cm (4 - 4.75 in) positive ease at bust circumference. 

The garment in the images is knitted with the colour Night Sky.

• 2.75 mm (US 2) double-pointed needles* 
• 2.75 mm (US 2) 40 cm (16 in) circular needle  
• 2.75 mm (US 2) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle  
• 2.75 mm (US 2) 100 cm (40 in) circular needle  
• 3.25 mm (US 3) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle  
• 3.5 mm (US 4) 100 cm (40 in) circular needle 

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

* For working a smaller circumference in the round, you can also use a circular needle sized appropriately for your size, or two circular needles, or one larger circular needle with the Magic Loop technique.
